Hosted by London St Art Club (Summer & Natalie Knight)
We approach art-making as a multi-sensory experience, and these workshops will draw inspiration from the 'heavenly' light, sound and spectacular environment from the heart of the Cathedral's nave! We will delve into exercises such as sketching to music, drawing blind and contour lines, then use these drawings to inspire the resulting painting(s). There will be acoustics from a live, flamboyant classical cellist, to create a fully immersive experience. Art-making is not limited by what you see. It’s about capturing the essence of an experience.
A minimalist practice of making words visual, in colour, complimented by representative symbol as found in and around the Parnell Cathedral. Our inspiration will be drawn from considering both fun graffiti art and iconic New Zealand word artists, such as Shane Cotton, whose 'worded works' are features of the Cathedral's spectacular contemporary stained glass windows. A time to come together in the sacred nave of the Holy Trinity Cathedral to create your own worded intention on canvas using a kaleidoscope of acrylic colour (paint!).
These workshops have a relaxing and therapeutic style, suitable for any level, creatives and non-creatives alike! All materials are supplied and you take home the work you create.
