Ongoingness Meets
It’s a treat to share the story of someone who I'm profoundly inspired by—not only through her ongoing evolution of Sala but through the fire of her authentic expression and unwavering creative spirit. Her work is a luminous reflection of her essence, a reminder of what’s possible when we fully trust our creative fire.
As designed by Hannah Crerar a few years ago, here's my astrological map:
Virgo sun—core identity—and moon—inner, emotional world.
Sagittarius rising—how you present to the world on first impression.
The energy of Sagittarius has a really strong presence in your chart! It is the teacher archetype of the zodiac, yet an eternal student. There is a natural tendency to always seek truth and wisdom in all you experience, and there is a deep love and non-negotiable need for travel, exploration and philosophising. You possess strong opinions and beliefs and you have stories to tell (Oh hello Sarah the SAGE).
You have not only your Sun sign in Virgo, but also your Moon sign suggesting your deep needs are very detail oriented - constantly fixing and improving and tweaking (on subtle or very obvious levels). A perfectionist through and through, and someone who delights in nourishment, food, sleep, sex, bathing, grooming.
You have Mercury—how we communicate—in the sign of Libra which indicates that your style of storytelling and your communication in general will often be presented beautifully and artistically. You also have Venus (relating to love and values) in Libra indicating an undeniable love of beauty and harmony and aesthetics in all things.
You have your True node—qualities your soul wants to develop in this lifetime—and Jupiter—planet of expansion, abundance and luck—in Aries which means leaning into entrepreneurial, fearless and youthful energy can really serve your soul!! It can also suggest it is part of your life’s trajectory to get to know, nurture and love your inner child (who possessed this enterprising and brave energy)!
The journey wasn’t linear—there was a rhythm. At times, a reckoning. At others, a return.
I wasn’t the sporty kid. Movement found me when I needed it most—an anchor through university-induced anxiety, a reclamation of strength.
Later, when my body changed—through pregnancy, through motherhood—movement became both autonomy and anchor, a way back to a self I sometimes felt slipping away.
I didn’t set out to build a gym; I created a space for evolution. A home for movement as art, as energy, as self-discovery. I've been so fortunate that this space has resonated with so many people and been able to flourish and grow. Its truly a space of co-creation and i'm so proud to see our little sala baby grow.
My life force is momentum—driven by curiosity, resilience, and creation. It’s the energy that keeps me moving, adapting, and building.
It’s the quiet pull of questions that push me forward, the strength to bend without breaking, and the passion to create spaces that inspire connection and evolution.
Walking. It’s how I process, reset, and return to myself. Movement has always been my anchor, but walking is different—it’s not about intensity or goals; it’s about clarity.
Whether it’s a quiet morning walk or pacing the studio between classes, it gives me space to think, metabolise emotions, and let ideas take shape. It’s simple, but that’s the beauty of it—just one foot in front of the other, a practice in presence.
Lately, I’ve been exploring the intersection of movement, and autonomy—how we reclaim a sense of self through the way we move. I’m thinking a lot about how fitness spaces can better honour the cycles we go through, especially as women, rather than pushing a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach.
I’m learning that true strength isn’t just about endurance or intensity—it’s about adaptability. It’s about knowing when to push and when to pause, when to lead and when to listen. The more I dive into this, the more I see how movement, when approached with intention, can be a tool for self-trust and long-term resilience.
You can do anything, but not everything.
Right now, I’m protecting my energy, being intentional with where I place it. There’s power in knowing what truly matters and letting the rest fall away. Growth isn’t always about adding more; sometimes, it’s about refining, simplifying, and trusting what's meant to expand will.
Secondly, I'm reflecting on boundaries a lot this life-season. The concept of boundaries has become a bit of a buzzword lately, especially in the wellness community. But there’s a tendency to confuse boundaries with self-serving behaviours, a shift I’ve noticed more recently. It could be due to the rise of social media or even spiritual narcissism, but as we work to connect with our true selves, it’s important to remember that self-care isn’t just about us—it’s about how we show up for everything and everyone around us. You can’t complain about not having a village if you’re not willing to be a villager. True connection comes from showing up for others the way you hope they’ll show up for you. Humility, participation, and mutual care are the foundation of any community.
Ophelia will always be my deepest source of inspiration.
They pulled you from a tear
six inches long across my belly
It was a portal from one world into the next
For me.
What I share with the Auckland wellness community is a space for growth— in all its facets. A place where movement, energy, and creativity intersect. It’s about fostering connection, not just between bodies, but between mind, spirit, and environment. At Sala, you can join in by simply showing up, whether it's through a class, a conversation, or even through our art collaborations. There’s no one-size-fits-all; it’s about meeting yourself where you’re at, and we welcome that openness in all who walk through our doors. All it takes is the willingness to connect with your energy and explore what that movement can do for you.
On the Road by Jack Kerouac, The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant, and The Diary of Anaïs Nin are books I first read as a teenager and have since returned to over and over. I think they remain my favourites as each offers an insight into living fully.
On the Road teaches the power of living authentically, embracing freedom, and seeking raw, unfiltered experiences, reminding me that life is meant to be lived in the moment.
The Necklace is a cautionary tale about the fleeting nature of material pursuits and how they can change our reality in unexpected ways, urging me to appreciate the present.
Nin’s Diary encourages me to embrace life’s complexities, evolve constantly, and savour every moment, reinforcing the importance of living deeply and authentically.
Each book reminds me that life is fragile and tomorrow is never promised.
