Ongoingness Meets
Rooted in astrology, movement, and spiritual practice, Iris brings a unique blend of grounded presence and cosmic curiosity to her work in the wellness space. Iris’ journey is an ever-evolving exploration of ritual, transformation, and embodied wisdom—one she deepens through practice and shares through her meditative and sensory-rich experiences at Kenko Studios, guiding others in their own discoveries.
Sagittarius Sun, Pisces Moon, Taurus Rising.
I also have Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Neptune in Capricorn. Most of my closest friends have Capricorn placements mixed with a dreamy water sign, which just makes sense. Lately, I’ve been connecting most with my Aquarius energy—my MC, Jupiter, and Uranus—especially in relation to exploring a unique career path.
Even though I’m a Sag Sun, it sits in my 8th House (of transformation and mystery) with Pluto, adding a deeper, more transformative edge to my adventurous and philosophical nature. My Pisces Moon makes me sensitive to emotions and the unseen, while my Taurus Rising grounds me in the tangible—sensual beauty, comfort, and presence. I love astrology—there are so many layers, and always more to learn.
My journey with spirituality began in 2018 when I discovered meditation as a way to navigate mental health challenges. This led me to yoga, intuitive movement, and deeper spiritual practices like breathwork and ceremony.
While living in a small beachfront batch in Huia, I studied yoga, aerial yoga, and tarot while founding ASCEND Aerial Yoga—an intimate space dedicated to movement, ritual, and healing.
After two years, I transitioned to a softer lifestyle, completed my Reiki Master qualification, and refined my offerings. Now, I teach at Kenko Studios, focusing on intentional, sensory-rich spiritual experiences that align with my Taurus Rising and Aquarius MC.
I have endless projects and ideas I’m inspired to bring to life. So, although the ‘me of now’ has already been on a seven-year spiritual journey, it feels like I’m just at the beginning of unfolding something new…
Being a lucky egg–born with a womb–allows my feminine, sensual energy to flow in a beautifully long, cyclical rhythm aligned with the moon and my menstrual cycle. Each phase, each day, brings a different expression of who I am to the world and the mirror I stand before.
I’m still learning to soften into and accept this womanly way of being, instead of forcing my energy to fit the productivity standards of the Western world.
Recently, I’ve been drawn to prayer as both an addition to other rituals and as a standalone practice. I use astrology books, tarot texts, and AI to research relevant deities, energies, or zodiac signs. For example, I’m currently praying to Sagittarius and Wolf Spirit before my yogic study sessions, calling in their drive and mastery.
I’ve also been making space for meditative prayer, directly asking Source/God/Universe for guidance on specific challenges or decisions. The answers that come through have been clear and powerful, helping me build deeper trust in both spirit and my path on earth. It feels similar to using a pendulum or tarot for guidance, but a little more personal and, at times, mind-blowing.
Currently, I’m revisiting my Ashtanga training, breaking down the sequence to make it more accessible for beginners, and reconnecting to the practice personally. I’m also exploring the ego’s role in Ashtanga and how it can often lead to injury. In such a physical practice, it’s essential to listen to the body and intuition. Initially, moving at a snail's pace and gradually building strength over time in a safe, sustainable way. If we’re not breathing in a pose, it’s not worth it!
'What would I say to a friend in this situation?'
A simple but powerful reminder to check my inner dialogue and treat myself with the same compassion and understanding I offer others.
Esmeralda Tikao has been a gorgeous influence in my life. I first met her when she attended my floating ceremony events at ASCEND Aerial Yoga, where she quickly became like a younger sister and dear friend in one. I’ve watched her blossom into a sound healer with authenticity, excitement and passion–reminding me of when I first entered the wellness industry. Her endless book recommendations, waterfall adventures and deep spiritual insights never fail to inspire me. Her dreamy, go-with-the-flow nature is generous and accepting–an energy I strive to embody after every interaction!
I’m currently offering ‘Guided Meditation & Reiki’ and ‘Beginners Ashtanga Yoga’ classes on Sundays at Kenko Studios. I also host ‘Pause Seasonal Retreats’ every three months with a unique theme and layered spiritual journey.
‘Pause Summer Retreat’ is on Saturday 15 February from 7:00PM at Kenko Studios. Class bookings and ticket links are available on my website and Instagram bio. Limited spaces are also offered through Classpass.
